Plot Summary
The series follows the absurd, exaggerated, and yet strangely relatable daily life of Jo Seok (Lee Kwang-soo), an aspiring webtoon artist, and his chaotic family.
The humor is built on over-the-top antics, miscommunications, and the family's completely dysfunctional, oddball dynamics, which Jo Seok then uses as material for his successful webcomic, The Sound of Your Heart.
The core characters include:
Jo Seok (Lee Kwang-soo): The hapless, perpetually unlucky protagonist and narrator who constantly finds himself in embarrassing situations.
Choi Ae-bong (Jung So-min): Jo Seok's feisty and equally eccentric girlfriend (and later wife), who somehow manages to tolerate the family's madness.
Jo Chul-wang (Kim Byeong-ok): The penny-pinching, struggling chicken shop owner and Jo Seok's father.
Kwon Jung-kwon (Kim Mi-kyung): Jo Seok's mother, who is the most "normal" member but also prone to ridiculous outbursts.
Jo Joon (Kim Dae-myung): Jo Seok's older brother, who works at an entertainment company and is often a partner in crime for the family's schemes.
Each episode is broken down into a few short anecdotes, often containing elaborate sight gags and parodies of popular K-drama tropes. It's famous for its quick pace and breaking the fourth wall.
The series was a massive success, achieving over 100 million views on Sohu TV in China and over 40 million views on Naver TV Cast in South Korea, leading to a reboot with a different cast in 2018.
