Plot Summary
The film centers on a well-meaning but somewhat inept angel named Gabriel (Keanu Reeves), whose celestial job is to act as the budget guardian angel for people who text and drive. Bored with his monotonous tasks, Gabriel decides to embark on a misguided mission to teach a human the meaning of life.
He targets Arj (Aziz Ansari), a struggling gig worker who feels stuck and believes his problems would vanish if he had more money. Gabriel tries to prove his point by body-swapping Arj with his incredibly wealthy employer, Jeff (Seth Rogen), a venture capitalist who lives a life of luxury and excess.
However, Gabriel's plan backfires spectacularly. Arj discovers that the life of a rich person does solve most of his problems and immediately embraces the opulence, refusing to switch back. As a consequence of his botched intervention, Gabriel loses his wings and divine powers, becoming stranded on Earth.
Now, the newly grounded angel must team up with the newly impoverished Jeff to convince Arj to trade back their lives before the chaos of Gabriel's previous angelic duties completely unravels.
